The dial is finished in Kiso lacquer, applied by hand by a Certified Traditional Craftsman in Nagano. Lacquer is built up drop by drop and polished back, over and over, until the surface holds a depth that paint cannot reach. The color is koiai, a deep indigo that shifts with the light. The crown is lacquered in the same indigo, fired into the metal.

Lacquer comes from the sap of the urushi tree. A tree needs fifteen to twenty years of growth before it can be tapped, and a single tree yields only enough for about one small cup. The lacquer hardens on its own, without heat, into a finish that is both glossy and tough.

Because every dial is finished by hand, no two are exactly alike.

At 30mm across and 7mm thick, the case is slim and unisex, and weighs only 30 grams. Choose burgundy or black calf leather, each with a stainless steel push-button deployant clasp, or a stainless steel mesh bracelet.
